Tessa + Ben’s Colorful Forest Cabin Wedding

It’s a really special feeling when someone says to you “I saw your work and the way you tell a story with photos is how I want our day captured”. However, it takes a really special COUPLE to say this and have it convince me to completely reorganize a 2 week long roadtrip just so I can make it back in time for the wedding. And I’m so, so, so glad I did.

I think most of us know the saying that rain on a wedding day is good luck. But when you’ve put all of your efforts into creating a celebration that doesn’t include a rain plan (It IS the middle of July, afterall), it can be hard to feel very lucky. From a photography perspective, this kind of weather is a joy. Saturated colors, even lighting, harsh shadows disappear and with the right flashes you can create some pretty cool looking photos that you just can’t get without those little drops but it still can add stress on top of everything else that needs to be done for the day. However, if you have the perfect log cabin set among Oregon old-growth, scores of friends and family laughing their way through the day coupled with beautiful glassware, table settings and food THEN you throw in some perfectly timed rain breaks that bring enough sun to dry out the lawn for seating and a pretty badass sunset you start to see that maybe… just maybe… that rain is pretty damn lucky, after all. Enjoy!
