Dani + Rachel’s Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden Wedding

I met Dani and Rachel the day the Oregon Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I was shooting images at the Multnomah County Courthouse for Oregon United for Marriage while we waited to hear the ruling. After we received word and I captured some of the first couples to marry legally there in the courthouse I went over to the Melody Ballroom where they were having a great big reception party. And that’s where I got this photo of these two amazing people.

Fast forward a bit to the engagement session we did. It was silly and fun as we wandered around the industrial east-side exploring strange warehouses filled with treasures and local street art and even stopped in for some beers. But the whole time I couldn’t stop noticing how they stole little glances at each other.  And there’s something in those little looks that melts my heart because it’s not just love that fills their eyes. I see a deep and soulful admiration. And from the first time we met til the day of their wedding it is the thing that strikes me as the perfect glimpse into who they are as a couple. Filled with admiration for the person that their partner is and that, to me, is the most incredibly romantic thing. Enjoy!
